What We Do

The world is changing. By 2040 it is predicted that there will be 9 billion people on earth. This creates an ever-increasing pressure on our natural resources – more must be created and grown using fewer resources while meeting enhanced environmental regulations and changing customer preferences.

What We Do

Lincoln Hub provides a gateway to agricultural science and research expertise aimed at delivering innovative industry-led solutions that can be commercialised for the benefit of the agricultural sector, improving both productivity and competitiveness.

We provide a commercial connecting role, where we assist organisations to find the best team to solve their business problems, and provide commercial project management services to ensure successful commercial outcomes.

Lincoln Hub is also an established innovation cluster and precinct which is home to a specialist land-based university, agricultural science and research organisations and like-minded businesses. The precinct offers flexible opportunities to locate your company – giving you access to laboratories, office space, testing environments and shared facilities.

Our Vision

Innovate. Educate. Collaborate. Create.

Lincoln Hub has grown from the idea that to meet the challenge of sustainable production for the future, the agricultural sector will need to innovate and create new ways of doing things.

Our vision is:

  1. Grow and plug into an ecosystem. Create an ecosystem where agricultural industry, education and science collaborate to do things differently and deliver solutions for the agricultural sector. This ecosystem is both virtual – connecting people across the globe, and physical in the precinct where businesses of different sizes and expertise share space with students and scientists.
  2. Smart people, smart solutions. Lincoln Hub seeks to provide unique educational opportunities and grow the capability within the agricultural sector. Lincoln Hub will support industry input and supervision of qualifications. Students (under and postgraduate) on campus have opportunities to work alongside agricultural science research organisations and agricultural businesses.
  3. Help foster a mind-set of diversity, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Create wealth through commercialisation of industry-led research contributing to finding the right balance between land productivity and environmental sustainability. Our role is as a facilitator and connector – Lincoln Hub is a gateway for organisations to find the best science team to deliver a commercial outcome and a precinct where agricultural business, science and education thrive together.

Getting Involved

Lincoln Hub offers a range of opportunities for agricultural industry, education and science organisations to get involved.

Locate on site. Lincoln Hub facilitates organisations to be accommodated in the precinct, providing options for access to research farms, facilities, visibility of research and proximity to other businesses along the industry value chain.

Research projects. To meet our varying client research requirements, the Lincoln Hub partners with public and private organisations and in contract research. Lincoln Hub provides the connection between industry and research to source the best team to deliver on a piece of research for your organisation. This can be a discrete piece of work or a programme providing the opportunity and associated benefits for your staff to be part of the research, working closely alongside other researchers.

Education. Businesses are also able to fund specific research projects by supporting a postgraduate student’s work – giving access to a talented researcher to further business objectives, and providing the researcher with enhanced study opportunities. Undergraduates get to take advantage of increased opportunities for interaction with business. Postgraduates experience enhanced opportunities for greater involvement at a practical level, providing greater insight into future career paths through interaction with science organisations and industry businesses. Lincoln University is a specialist land-based university located within the precinct – visit their website for more information.

The Lincoln Hub will explore and develop other opportunities for involvement as appropriate – so if you have an idea, get in touch.
